Critical Factors
GUIDES
A Most Important Element of a Superior Safari
It
is of particular note that OUR
TRIPS ARE LED BY SOME OF THE MOST RENOWNED NAMES IN TANZANIAN SAFARIS. Their knowledge
and creativity allow us to have you where things are happening as well
as to do the unusual, i.e. do
things that others don't know to do or aren't equipped to do. We also
offer our "SPECIAL SERIES" of extraordinary trips that have
been created together with some of the most renowned African safari guides
and escorts. These can be found on the Special
Offerings page.
VEHICLES
We use rugged, extremely comfortable FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE SAFARI LAND CRUISERS custom-built for the African bush, with long-range fuel tanks, emergency spares, cool boxes for cold drinks and picnic lunches that allow us to stay out from camp all day (if desired) as well as communication radios. No more than 4 passengers per vehicle, except when small children or special request. Large roof hatches and windows give you varied options for the best viewing and photographic opportunities.
ACCOMMODATIONS
In Africa, like everywhere else, the greatest of all luxuries is privacy. A customized, deluxe tented safari adds up to a level of comfort, service, and civility which you cannot experience by visiting the lodges and permanent sites on the packaged safari tour.
Our MOBILE-TENTED CAMPS as well as REMOTE, PRIVATE CAMPS are designed to facilitate this intense, intimate experience. They provide all the amenities, comfort, and service without being intrusive or pretentious. Very large Tents are each equipped with private dressing area, shower and latrine. We use woodframe beds that not only provide more comfort but can also be customized by special request. We have generators for lights, batteries, etc..
For the more adventurous, a somewhat more rugged FLY-CAMP OPTION is available. This is a small, "light camp" set away from a main camp for a night. Sleeping tents have beds only. There is a shared latrine, and meals are al fresco — a real safari experience! And, from time to time, we will also make use of a SUPERB LODGE, notably on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater.FOOD
In camps, SUPERB AFRICAN/EUROPEAN CUISINE is served in the spacious and comfortable dining tent or al fresco. Food preparation is closely monitored, and the greatest care is taken with regard to personal cleanliness and health. REFRIGERATION enables us to offer fish and other perishables --- all of which means that we can serve meals that are superior to and more varied than any lodge offering. MENUS accentuate the healthy and nutritious, with freshly baked breads, fruits, vegetables, fish and meats, all meticulously prepared by your camp chef. We also do everything possible to cater to those with more particular eating habits such as vegetarians and young children.
Bush breakfasts, exquisite camp lunches or lunches-on-the-go while game driving, sundowners around a sparkling campfire, and dinner under the stars -- all are part of this extraordinary "tented experience."
STAFF
Every safari has a SUPERB STAFF (mechanics, chef, dining stewards, tent stewards, etc.) to look after your every need -from wake-up with hot coffee or tea in your tent, to hot showers whenever you like, to gathering firewood for evening campfire, to making you an iced sundowner before dinner, to preparing your tent for sleep each night. Laundry is done daily, so there is no need to overpack. AND ALL THE WHILE THEY ARE TAKING CARE OF YOU, THEY BECOME YOUR FRIENDS.
Such care is deeply appreciated when
you're camped deep in the African bush.
ITINERARIES
Another Most Important Element of a Superb Safari
With every trip we strive to give you A TRUE SAFARI EXPERIENCE . Our itineraries are geared toward "EXCLUSIVENESS" and "PRIVACY" and are UNRIVALED in providing the most INTIMATE and meaningful wildlife and cultural interaction.
The process is interactive and much time and effort are devoted to understanding your needs and desires.
The combination of superior guides, vehicles and outfitting allow us to pursue our philosophy of
WHAT A GREAT SAFARI IS SUPPOSED TO BE:
Total immersion in a few select areas where the most interesting and exciting things are going on - experiencing the wildlife and surroundings in the most natural and unobtrusive way.
This is not the "tour mentality" of visiting many sites regardless of the season (with the inherent risk of wasting time in a place where nothing is happening). Nor is it the "check list mentality" (i.e. 20 minutes here, I've seen my lion; "20 minutes there, I've seen my elephant.") Nor is it about just observing animals.
We strive to make you a part of the ebb and flow of what's going on so that you are interacting with and learning about africa and its wildlife on a level of intimacy and intensity that those on other safaris cannot begin to imagine.
