                                       SPECTACULAR TANZANIA WILDLIFE SAFARI
SO# 3                                              August 1-11, 2008
(max 8 people)

This very special trip begins with a brief visit to seldom seen Arusha National Park, renowned for its extraordinarily-diverse ecosystems and spectacular unobstructed views of towering Mt Meru (nearly 15,000 ft high) and Mt Kilimanjaro (nearly 20,000 ft high). We then head south into real African bush country and Tarangire National Park, experiencing this acacia and baobob-filled ecosystem via a camp set within a "true" private concession, the Osunyai Wilderness, that abuts Tarangire but is not subject to Park rules. This allows us to engage in activities not found on other safaris, such as night game drives, walking trips with a specialist escort, and the possibility of a "fly-camp" set up away from the main camp for an exciting night under the stars. At this time of year, the Tarangire River is the only water source in the entire region, drawing in huge herds of elephant, cape buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, and gazelle, along with all of the attendant predators. Dense cover makes it especially good for leopard. Then it's a drive north and up the Great Rift Valley escarpment to the Ngorongoro Crater. Game drive on the Crater floor and a night on the Crater Rim. The safari culminates with several days in your own deluxe, mobile-tented camp set in a beautiful site within the Serengeti, arguably the most famous wildlife venue on the planet. Partial and full-day game drives on the vast open plain and neighboring woodlands will enable you to become fully immersed in the daily rhythyms of this spectacular and diverse ecosystem.

                                    SPECTACULAR TANZANIA MIGRATION SAFARI
A Private Trip Guided By Lynne Leakey
SO#6                                       January 21 - January 31, 2009

Led by our good friend Lynne Leakey, this sensational safari is set in Tanzania's Green Season, a time when one of Nature's wonders, the Great Migration, with nearly 2 million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle, is spread full flower across the open Serengeti Plain. This safari begins with a visit to a special gem, Arusha National Park, home to the Ngurdoto Crater, the spectacular flammingo-filled (much of the time) Momela Lakes, along with unobstructed, breathtaking views of Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru. We then head northwest and a game drive into Lake Manayara National Park before continuing on to another of Nature's great wonders, the Ngorongoro Crater , and a night in a lodge set on the Crater Rim. All of this is a prelude to a 6-day concentration on the Serengeti ecosystem and the Migration that includes a stay in a private, deluxe, mobile-tented camp plus the unique opportunity to visit into the Ngaroi Wilderness, a "true" private concession abutting the Serengeti. Here you have the chance to engage in activities not found on other safaris, such as night game drives, walking, as well as the possibility of an overnight satellite-camp experience.
